Bring Holiday Joy to Local Youth in Need: Support Our Community’s Heart in Whatcom County!

This holiday season, there’s no better way to give back than by supporting youth in need right here in Whatcom County through Our Community’s Heart. Guided by Executive Director Scott Duffey—one of the original founders of the Upper Room—this organization is dedicated to offering a safe and supportive space for vulnerable youth. In addition to bringing the Upper Room back to Bellingham, Scott and the team at Our Community’s Heart are working toward expanding drop-in centers across the county and beyond, providing essential resources for young people who need them most.

Imagine a place where youth in need can find warmth, compassion, and basic necessities like hot meals, sleeping bags, showers, laundry, and clothing—all alongside connections to social services that support their growth and well-being. Each Upper Room center is more than a place; it’s a lifeline, bringing comfort and hope to young people in our community.

Here are some easy ways you can get involved and make a difference this season:

  1. Donate: Your financial support goes a long way! You can either write a check and mail it to our PO Box or donate securely online. Every dollar helps Our Community’s Heart provide the essentials.
  2. Share Resources: Do you have access to food, clothing, sleeping bags, or even a potential location we could rent? Reach out to Scott Duffey via the contact form to discuss how your resources can help create safe spaces for youth in need.
